Alturas Analytics, Inc. located in beautiful Moscow, Idaho, is seeking a Chief Business Development Officer. We are looking for a passionate, driven individual to lead our business development and marketing departments and to continue to foster our exponential growth as a leader in the LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS bioanalytical field.

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will develop and strengthen Alturas’ business planning strategies and focus on building relationship with both external and internal stakeholders.  This person will be adept at identifying competitive landscapes, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards. The goal of this position is to achieve sustainable business growth while mitigating risk. The Chief Business Development Officer reports directly to the President/CEO.

Essential Duties and Tasks:

  • Develops strategic plans, marketing and sales plans, and budgets for business development aspects of the Company
  • Provides operational oversight of Business Development functions
  • Oversees the formation of business partnerships and negotiation of contracts
  • Sets sales priorities and accountabilities necessary to achieve the annual sales target
  • Provides strategic oversight into new services to the executive bioanalytical team
  • Ensures the company performance targets are aligned with resource requirements to deliver on key business objectives
  • Provides strategic marketing oversight of branding, messaging and media campaigns as well as overall strategic alignment with Alturas’ marketing programs and initiatives
  • Collaborates with the Director of Finance and members of the executive team to evaluate financial performance and manage accurate business forecasts
  • Facilitates professional development of the business development team providing direction and mentorship
  • Acts as a direct liaison from the science department to business development and marketing to ensure common science terms, vernacular and other communications are unified between the two groups
  • Promotes laboratory services and scientific research efforts of methods/technologies to new and existing clients in order to grow, retain, and sustain company business through travel to professional organizations, conferences and similar venues
  • Interacts with leaders from industry, scientific organizations and advisory boards to build reputation and contribute to planning for future scientific conferences

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or business field required; M.B.A., M.S., or Ph.D. preferred
  • 5 years minimum of managerial experience in a laboratory or business setting
  • 5 years minimum of account management,  marketing and sales
  • Proven track record in marketing and sales
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical development, R&D, preclinical and clinical operations, and contract research organizations (CROs) and regulations governing the industry (21 CFR Part 58, Good Laboratory Practice for Nonclinical Laboratory Studies and 21 CFR Part 11, Electronic Records & Electronic Signatures)
  • Knowledge of business management including marketing, sales, strategic planning, customer relations management, and project management
  • Knowledge of print, video, web, and social media technologies and suppliers
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify the appropriate personnel for this position

  • Ability to create, coordinate and implement innovative strategies for recruitment and retention of clients
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
  • Ability to interpret and apply agency regulations and guidelines
  • Ability to supervise other employees
