Position Summary:
The Human Resource/Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting the Human Resource Manager in recruitment, payroll processing, benefits administration, employee files, and planning and implementing company policies. Extensive communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and strong interpersonal skills are required. The Human Resource/Payroll Specialist is not involved in any GLP-related activities within Alturas Analytics, Inc.
Human Resource Duties:
Assists with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, scheduling interviews and performing reference checks
Assists with administering the employee benefit and compensation programs
Coordinates new employee orientation and training sessions for all employees
Ensures smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries
Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
Payroll Duties:
Enters data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs
Calculates wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
Prepares state and federal payroll reports
Responds to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns
Additional Duties and Tasks:
Ensures company complies with all state and federal employment and compensation regulations
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource and payroll files and records
Assists in overseeing and coordinating general office operations as needed
Education and Experience Requirements:
College degree – business/human resources or accounting degree preferred
3-5 years’ experience in human resources and/or payroll processing
Working knowledge of employee benefits and laws
Working knowledge of complete MS Office suite
Working knowledge of QuickBooks and basic accounting/payroll practices
An equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify the appropriate candidate for this position

Ability to interpret and apply human resources and payroll/accounting practices and procedures
Physical Requirements:

Position requires standing less than 1/3 of the time
Position requires talking or hearing up to 2/3 of the time
Position requires use of hands and manual dexterity over 2/3 of the time
Position requires reaching with hands and arms up to 1/3 of the time
Position requires lifting up to 10 lbs. less than 1/3 of the time
