This presentation provides an overview of the increasingly prevalent cybersecurity threat, ransomware, and increases awareness of the risk for corporate leadership and Information Technology (IT) departments. Recommendations for a preventative action plan to reduce the risk of ransomware attacks and best practices for employees to follow to stop the infiltration of ransomware will be introduced.

The presentation will review the heightened ransomware attacks in the recent years, analyzes how ransomware functions, and the damages it can cause. An overview of ransomware history and how it evolves to an ecosystem will be provided. This presentation recommends actions corporate management and IT departments can take to counter the threat of ransomware and best practices for employees in their daily activities on their computer.
